What Kind of JOBS do Chemical Engineers have ??

What kind of Jobs do Chemical Engineers have ??

As we know that Chemical Engineers are problem solvers, and have such a broad technical training, that they do an amazing variety of jobs and work in different sections of the companies. They work in Chemical Plants running various processes or may also work in offices with latest technology computers designing various processes.

Lets us understand it broadly. For this consider an example :- A Chemist first developed a Toothpaste, but just a small batch of it. But “ How do you make enormous batches of it for mass production?? , How do you do that well and economically?? ” That's the job of a Chemical Engineer. Also if you wanted to manufacture a billions of Banana chips that are exactly of same size, and fit into a packet without breaking, Who will develop the Manufacturing Process ??  It's no one else than a Chemical Engineer.

It is the responsibility of a Chemical Engineer to protect the environment from chemicals and toxins. A Chemical Engineer's knowledge gained over time can enhance people's way of living life to a great extent. Many Chemical Engineers work in Manufacturing Industries whereas other's do scientific or technical work such as designing plants and researching and developing safer, eco-friendlier and economical processes for chemical companies. Thus the best bet for anyone pursuing a Chemical Engineering career is to enter into a non-manufacturing sector such as service, research, or testing.

Developing constant velocity output processes for chemical companies is the primary concern of any Chemical Engineer, and the one who is willing to accept this challenge can expect to excel in the industry.

Below is a List of different Kinds of jobs that Chemical Engineer's have :-

1. Production Engineer
2. Process Engineer
3. Quality Control and Reliability Engineer
4. Plant Manager
5. Advanced Process Control Engineer
6. Operations Manager
7. Environmental Specialist
8. Project Supervisor
9. Energy Expert
10. Materials Technologist
11. Safety Engineer
12. Design Engineer

AND MANY MORE....

An Chemical Engineering job typically requires just a 4 years College Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. A master's degree can help excel much further..!

What do Chemical Engineers do ??

What do Chemical Engineers do ??

....takes Chemistry out of the Labouratory into the world

Chemical Engineers basically design or develop low cost processes for producing various products which make it possible for both poor as well as rich nations to manufacture a particular product at low capital Investments. And we all know that as the process or product making cost reduces more and more profits are generated by the industry.

Their main aim is to design plants & processes to maximize productivity and minimise costs, and to evaluate plant operations for performance and product quality. Once the process and equipments are designed, Chemical engineers remain on hand at a production facility to solve  problems that occur as the processes continue.

They work on the principles that reduce the use of plastics, reduce the pollution, develop processes that uses the waste generated to produce something useful and help to develop environmental friendly processes and products . Chemical Engineers are the ones that take Chemistry out of Laboratory, apply it on a large scale and bring it into the world around by producing things we all use. It would take a very long time to make a list of all the products or materials that are made or designed or processed by Chemical Engineers.

Chemical engineers work in following Industrial sectors :-
1. Petrochemicals
2. Pharmaceuticals
3. Polymers
4. Design and Construction
5. Pulp and Paper
6. Food
7. Cosmetics
8. Oil and Gas
9. Mining and Minerals
10. Textile
11. Paint
AND MANY MORE....

In these Industries Chemical Engineers apply their knowledge of Physics, Mathematics, Biology and particularly CHEMISTRY to solve any technical problems.

What is a CHEMICAL ENGINEER ??

What is a CHEMICAL ENGINEER ?

Chemical Engineers are the ones that Design, Construct and Operate Chemical Plants. The difference between other Engineers and Chemical Engineers is that they apply their broad knowledge of CHEMISTRY in a more advanced way in addition to other Engineering disciplines.

Chemical Engineers develop Processes and Chemicals to make products cheaper, safer, and with increased yields. For example, If you have to set up a Biscuit Manufacturing company then who will you concern, Absolutely no doubt you have to concern a Chemical Engineer. He will first help you in locating a proper site for setting up a Chemical Plant. Once the location is finalised he will make a rough design of How the plant will look like (means where the different sections of plant should be located, where the pipeline should be laid, where the equipments should be placed, Emergency exits etc.), And as the design of plant is finalised he will start designing the actual process of manufacturing, like what are the raw materials needed, what should be the input, what are the utilities required etc. Finally he will design such a process which will be cheaper and will provide you with the best profit by yielding large outputs without polluting the environment. After this he will work in the Industry actually making it work what he has designed and will help you keep on modifying with new processes and equipments to gain larger profits. This is just a small glance of a Chemical Engineer’s work.

So now you must be thinking that Chemical Engineers work only in Chemical Industries, NO that’s not true Chemical Engineers are also comfortable working with computers, using the latest technology to help design newer and safer processes. Also the Chemical Engineers protect the environment from various hazards caused by different Chemicals. Chemical engineers are often reffered to as 'UNIVERSAL ENGINEERS' because of their vast technical and scientific knowledge.

Thus, it would be not wrong to say that Chemical Engineering is a career that is both intellectually and financially rewarding.
